Li and learned: It was just a dream

Revolutionary Road
Revolutionary Road
Ok, I'm reporting must journey to Sorrento, but while there's no time, is the book report I read (almost swallowed incidentally) during the 5 days of vacation listening to the sea and little noise escaping the Sun :)

First the summary bookstores, to know about what the story is about: It was just a dream (Richard Yates) tells the story of Frank and April Wheeler, a couple and talented young man who believes he has all his life before him, and that success is coming at any time. But as the years pass, they go plunging into a world of intrigue and frustration, and just a big turn can change your destination. In 2009, came to the big screen, with Leonardo DiCaprio and Kate Winslet as protagonists.

I read in that language? In the English original. The title? Revolutionary Road (not like the Portuguese title, would have left the name of the street where they lived the same).

The experience of reading: Actually the fact that the book became a film criticized as well, made me curious. I always like to read the books before seeing the movie, and when I saw this in heaping to buy for £ 5 picked up without even thinking. Katie is one of my actresses (and celebrities) favorite, the QRIS watched the film and said it was good, could not pass up. But I confess that I know how the characters look like before reading the book takes away the fun and sometimes irritated me. Or ended up going back and forth as he imagined what I read between the characters I created in the head and the actors of the film (thankfully only knew the key).

Apart from that, the book begins slowly, halfway tedious. I had to force myself to continue, after a text with many acclamations could not be so time consuming. And it was very worthwhile. The story began to get involved, and the emotions that the characters lived teased me too. Grips the heart, lump in the throat, and an identification that anyone could be in their shoes.

The book is really VERY well written, conflicts and upheavals of the 50s as current even in the second millennium, impressed me but left me half deseperançosa not learned * nothing * all this time? But as he read the book, I found myself realizing that too many things have changed, many prejudices fell and hope was reinstated :-D

I identified and identified many other people around me with Frank and April and their idealism ... With this urge to want to change the world. With such great love that comes and goes, waxes and wanes and grows ... With so many people giving one (or live years planjando) twist in life in pursuit of the realization of dreams and desires that seem to be bigger than us and ...

But ... I can not go very deep, not to spoil the story for those who have not read yet. If you read and want to discuss, let me know, I will open a post separately for having a separate conversation.

And to end, how many stars takes the book? 5 of 5 of course!

Sure! The book is strong, with a profound message and I recommend everyone to read and draw their conclusions.

PS: I put a short list of future reports you must see here in my queue of posts with the books I read and have not yet commented. The book is on the edge of the bed now? The Lost Symbol (Dan Brown). 'm Enjoying it but me is getting sick a little, but once you get Dan Brown, it's hard to stop without finishing huh? / :)
